I have always raved about Madison, Wi. as one of my favorite layovers in the system. The city has a feel of a vibrant college town (UW is here) as well as playing home to the Wisconsin state government. The Capitol building and the University are connected by State Street, a pedestrian street with access limited to buses and deliveries. State Street is packed with great restaurants and shopping and as it progresses from the Capitol to the University the complexion of the street changes. At the Capitol end of the street the shops are more upscale with numerous moderate and upscale restaurants with street seating as well as indoor seating. The shopping is more boutiques and such, closer to the University the shopping becomes more college oriented with several team shops and college aged shops like GAP and Urban Outfitters. I have found my place and enjoy a brat and some fried cheese curds at State Street Brats! The city is surrounded on three sides by lakes and the University uses the lake to great advantage as you should see in some of the following pictures. Enjoy the pictures..and feel free to comment.

The pictures go by so fast that I can't read the historical sign.
that is easily solved by clicking on the pictures taking you directly to the album where the viewer has total control over speed.
